Tiger Records 2 Year Anniversary Show...

Below are some photos from Tiger Record’s 2 Year Anniversary show. My friend James opened the local record store and to say it has taken off would be an understatement. Not only is it a great place to find records/tapes from almost almost any genre you could think of, but also just a great spot to hang, grab a coffee from next door and talk music.

With life taking some weird turns in these times (COVID-19) it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to and/or wanted to take photos at a hardcore/punk show, but it felt great to feel the engery of everyone at the show who seemed to be as grateful as I was to forget about the weight of the world for a couple of hours.

So Happy 2nd Birthday Tiger Records and I can’t wait to see what year three brings.

In 2016 my family went to Pennsylvania over the holidays. The day after Christmas I went out for a little adventure. The following are a couple of the frames that I made from that day. Enjoy...

Myra Oh...

"To me, punk is about being an individual and going against the grain and standing up and saying 'This is who I am'." - Joey Ramone

A couple months ago my friend Myra asked if I could take a couple frames of her in her office space. I love that she has green thumb and a great sense of design so I obviously agreed. Here are a couple frames from that sunny afternoon.

Also, she's opening her own shop here in Jacksonville, FL called SWAN in the next month or so. Keep your ear to the street for the grand opening.

Katie & John...

"I won't treat you like you're, oh, so typical..." - Tegan and Sara

This is a special one for me personally. I've known John since sixth grade when we were both on safety patrol at our school (in full disclosure I later found out the only reason we both joined was for the free trip to Epocot at the end of the year). He and I have played in bands together, traveled, argued like old grandparents, drank gallons of Coke-a-Cola, and spent a countless number of hours on the internet late at night.

Looking back through some old photos I figured out the first time I met Katie. One of our friends was having a dinner party and John brought Katie. The first three photos of this post are from that August night in 2014. Through the years they've been together I've be able to get to know Katie better and see a different side of one of my best dudes.

When Katie asked me to take some engagement photos for them I couldn't of been more stoked. Then finding these older photo's really highlighted why I love photography and why I take photos... to stop time. The cliche' is dumb, but true, life moves fast and before you know it you're at the end. If nothing else, documenting moments in my life helps me slow down and enjoy this futile story line even if it's only for a 1/1000th of a second.

"If our world falls down tomorrow, you be sure I'll be there with a net..."

When my friend Jay hit me up saying he'd like some photo's with his fiancé, Rachel, but "we wanna do it somewhere that's abandoned", I knew just the place. In a little town just south of Jacksonville there is an old factory that has been abandoned and pretty much left to rot. So one afternoon we all packed up and headed out that way. These are some of my favorites from the afternoon that we spent together.

P.S. - Big thanks to the property owner who eventually caught us, but let us finish our last two shots. Respect, my dude.

Big Talbot in Little China

If you've lived in Jacksonville, FL for even a short period of time you've probably heard about a beach full of fallen and weathered trees. Most likely the beach they are speaking about is Big Talbot Island. This past Veterans Day I was able to visit the island for the first time since our last major hurricane. These are just a couple of frames from this little day trip. If you don't live in Jacksonville and happen to visit a day trip to Big Talbot Island is a must in my book...

Clay County School Board Meeting

Awhile back I was invited to document a Clay County School Meeting where the main topic on discussion was the rezoning of certain schools. I hope to make this into more of a long term project, but here are a couple images from that night...

Sunday Strollin'...

A couple Sunday's ago while walking through our downtown area of Jacksonville, FL I stumbled across a Black Lives Matter protest. These are some of the frames from the quick interaction. Personally, I don't think it my place to state any thoughts on the current issues, as a documentarian all I hope to be able to do is be a witness.

We must, we must thank you...

Last weekend I was able to attend the final Bane show. The first time I had ever heard Bane was on a Hellfest VHS copy that I bought from a local record store. After watching them play the two songs on that VHS recording I went back to the record store that same day and picked up the only album they had at the time which was “Give Blood”. From the very first song, Speechless, I knew this was something completely different then anything I had ever listened to because the song was pretty much one big thank you letter to any kid who had ever came to a show, bought a record, etc. It blew my mind that a band in the day and age of Limp Bizkit, boy bands, Mtv, and huge major record label corporations would set aside an entire song AND have it be the first track on the record. From that moment on I was hooked. What made this past weekend even more special is getting to see friends, that because of getting older, I don’t get to see as much and one of my best friends do something that he loves and has been so dedicated to over the last years. These are just a couple of frames from the show and hanging around Boston.

Give More, Give Everything, Give Blood…
